Had the pleasure of cataloguing our 100 year old Player cigarette cards, owing to this centenary year for this series of “Past and Present” by the John Player and Sons Tobacco company it seemed ideal for the blog!
Player’s were one of the first UK tobacco companies to include sets of general interest cards in their packs of cigarettes. These cards were generally produced in sets of 25 to 50 and have since become highly collectable. John Player & Sons issued more than 200 sets of cards.

Rutland Barrington, an actor and producer, well known for his roles in Gilbert and Sullivan operas. The Barrington is my favourite in the collection being by far the most vibrant!
